Being Content.

tee, sweater, skirt, shoes, belt: thrifted

I think the biggest goal I have right now is to be content. Content with the weather, my clothes, my hair, my life. I think so much of our life's time is wishing it away. Saying things like "I'll be happy when I'm done with school" or "Why can't Spring just get here?" Sure, I'm not a huge fan of winter, but it serves it place in the seasons. I love how pretty it makes the ground after it snows. Or  how quiet it is when it falls from the sky. But we all seem to be wishing for Spring to arrive. But when Spring gets here, are we just going to be wishing for Summer? And then Summer will get too warm and we'll be wishing it away for Fall.

I'm at a stage in my life where I just want contentment. I want to be at peace at whatever phase of life I may be in. I definitely want to get my degree, but I want to cherish the time that I'm in school. So many of us just rush through this life to get to the next check mark. Why don't we just slow down and breath in the life that we are so blessed to have?

Rob and I don't have a lot of money. We both have school to do. We live in the little town of Shelley, Idaho that doesn't even have a WalMart. I have crazy hair. Sometimes it really bothers me, but just in the last couple of days I feel so at peace with that. Of course I wish sometimes that we made more money and that I could just get my degree and move the heck out of Idaho, but why? This life is so dang beautiful and it should be treated that way. Be content with your life. Stop wishing it away. Love the life you live.

That was some tangent now wasn't it?

Truth Be Told.

dress: thrifted, tights and shoes: target, scarf: pac sun, shirt: forever 21

-The Selena Gomez station is my favorite station on pandora right now. Who said...
-I never actually wore this outfit outside of my house. ha.
-I didn't know what "yolo" meant until a month ago. I'm a 50 year old woman trapped in a baby's body.
-Idaho is lame and I'm not a fan. I miss you Washington! Green trees, degrees  above 25, and rain! How I miss the smell of rain.
-I went for a run for the fist time in foreves this morning. I ended up walking more than running. Idaho and your dang thin air killing my lungs.
-Pizza bites are a food group.
-I'm bored of my clothes.

Truth be told.

It's Okay.

shirt: thrifted, pants: rue 21, vest: I made it, boots: charlotte russe

Tonight, I had a mini-meltdown. We're all allowed to have one once a month, right? (Nod your head yes). My self-esteem has kind of been in the bunkers lately. I feel low for some reason and I'm not exactly sure why. Rob asked tonight, "You okay?" and instead of saying, "I'm fine" (which is my go-to answer) I said: "No." We laid down on the couch and we talked. "I suck." "No you don't, you're great." "I'm not motivated and I want to do things but I'm lazy." "I still think you're great." "Will you play Just Dance with me tonight?" "Of course." blah blah blah we kiss a little and I'm good again.

I'm a woman and I definitely have insecurities and doubts and stupid hormones but it's okay. It's okay to cry sometimes for stupid reasons. It's okay to be lazy sometimes. It's okay to eat three cookies. It's okay. I'm a good person and I'll work through this rut I'm going through. And if I need to cry a little to get things off my chest, then fine, it's okay to. I can get through hard times and just be okay.

The Peplum.

peplum & pants: made by me, hat: old navy, shoes: thrifted, jacket: charlotte russe

Ugh, please ignore the poochieness happening about my area... I started making this peplum about a month ago. I made the pattern and I was so excited to sew it all up! It sewed up really fast but then it was waaaay to high waisted. I looked overly pregnant. So then I added that blue band across the middle section and that seemed to solve the problem but it's totally off in the back... I don't think I'll be wearing this again. It does have an adorable collar on it though.

Oh, and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! from the person who hates this holiday with a passion....

Sparkly Barrette Tutorial.

I fell in love with THESE little bobbins from ban.do but I thought, "hey, those would be easy to make." So that's exactly what I did. Get ready for the easier tutorial of your life.

I already had the glue and I got a three pack of glitter and a three pack of barrettes from the dollar store. If ya wanna get technical that's about 33 cents a barrette! Score.

Put glue on barrette.

Smear glue.

Throw glitter on that foo.

Wear it.

YOU'RE DONE! Yay! I told you it was the easiest tutorial ever and it's dirt cheap. You're welcome. Just word to the wise, you might want to spray some kind of modge podge stuff on it so the glitter won't fall off. I haven't done that part yet.. I used hairspray just for the mean time.

ps; enter the Shabby Apple Giveaway HERE! It closes February 17th! Don't miss out.

Be My Fitness Witness.

hoodie: walmart, beanie, shirt, shoes: thrifted, pants: rue 21

I'm just going to come out and say it: I have gained 20 pounds. Before I got married, weight was never an issue for me. I always ate what I wanted and I worked out occasionally but I wasn't super hard core into because to be honest, I didn't need to. I had been the same weight since 9th grade. Gaining 20 pounds has been really hard on me. I've always been pretty skinny and I'm not calling myself fat by any means, but I definitely need to get back into shape. I had to throw out so many pairs of jeans because I couldn't get them past my thighs anymore... It's emotionally damaging and I want to take control of this before it takes control over me.

But my problem is I lack motivation. I doubt myself a lot and I just can't get myself to get off my butt and do something about it. I complain, complain, and even complain some more and I get no where (obviously). So this is where I need your help. I know there has to be someone or multiple people out there who just need someone to say: "You can do it! You're great. Keep going." I need and want someone to help me lose this weight and become happy with the body that my Father in heaven has blessed me with.

So I have a proposition. I'm going to call it "Fitness Witness" because I can't come up with a better name and really, I just need someone to hold me accountable and be my "witness." I've made a goal to do something active for 60 minutes a day. I can break it up 30 here, 30 there. I can go on a walk, do aerobics, play just dance... I can do anything that is getting my heart rate up and making me sweat for at least 60 minutes a day. I also want to lose 10 pounds in 2 months (but first, is that healthy? I don't want to die..).

For anyone who wants to join me in this challenge, here's my plan for you. You e-mail me and tell me your goals. Example: 30 minutes of working out each day and 10 pounds lost in 2 months or maybe you want to work out 4 hours a week and have a healthy diet plan or maybe you want to do the a mile a day challenge.  I dono, it's YOUR plan. You can do whatever you want. Then every Friday you e-mail me and tell me your progress and I'll keep track of it all. Then at the very end, I'll send out little "You did it! I'm so proud." little trinket. Because who doesn't like being rewarded? This way it's kind of like I'm working out with someone even though I'm really not. I want to be there for you! I want to support and maybe even challenge you.

Is anyone up for this challenge or should I just go back to eating? Email me if so! I would love for this to work. My email: thriftedthings@gmail.com. I'm excited to hear from you.
