eShakti Dress.

dress: c/o eShakti, sweater: old navy, scarf: gift(charlotte russe), belt: mom's, shoes: gift(target)

See that beauty up there? The lovely company eShakti made it for me. It fits me like a glove. I was able to put in my measurements so that it would fit perfectly. They have so many beautiful dresses, it was hard to pick the one I wanted. I definitely recommend going on over to their website and taking a look. You won't be disappointed :)

Early Christmas.

shirt, hat (forever 21), shoes (target): gifts, sweater vest: thrifted, jeggings: ross

See those cute shoes up there? Boyfriend got me them for Christmas. But since we won't be together for Christmas, we decided to open our gifts to each other early. I got him a bow tie and a ninja turtle shirt. He originally got me grey oxford heels, but they were too big. Then we found these cute puppies and we snagged um. Boyfriend got style. Thanks sweetie :)

Home for the Holidays.

sweater, slip, belt, and tights: mom's, dress: made by me, shoes: thrifted

I'm home! I'm home! I'm home! I went to bed at 11 last night, which is the earliest I've gone to bed in months! Months, I tell you. It felt so good to sleep in my own bed for the first time in ninety days. I love being home. We're going to put up the Christmas tree soon and I'm beyond excited. My parents waited for me to get home before putting it up! I love decorating the Christmas tree. Yay for being home for the holidays :)

Oh, and I made that dress. Beginning Sewing did me good.

Finals Week.

Finals Week is here. How I will dread these next three days more than anything. But, on the bright side. It's beautiful here in Rexburg today. Well, my 10 minute break is up. Back to this never ending to-do list.

A pirate. And the Shabby Apple Winner!

shirt: thrifted, boots & pants: forever21

I was in class today and the boy next to me says: "I like your outfit. You look like a pirate. All you need is an eye patch." Uhhh, thanks for that. I'll keep that in mind.

Also, you likin' that head tiltin? It's real nice.

AND THE WINNER IS....

ps;I used a random number generator but I can't get it to copy over.

I am His Daughter.

shirt, sweater, belt, boots: thrifted, tights: walmart, skirt: target

"there's so much more to me
he helps me to see that I have so much to offer
I am his daughter
he loves me the way I am
he's my strength when I stand
he is my king, and my father,
I am his daughter"

I've just been thinking so much about self worth lately. Not wearing make-up has really opened me up to what really matters. Sure, make-up may enhance beauty. But being a daughter of a King strengthens me more than make-up every could. You know, it's funny, because my boyfriend loves that I'm not wearing make-up. He keeps telling me: "You don't need it. You are so beautiful without it."  This experience has opened my eye to true and real beauty. The beauty that comes from the heart, not from appearance. I've come to love myself for the way I was made. Listen to this song and remember the beauty you truly have.

Random fun fact for you;
moose are my favorite animal.

Also, BYU-Idaho has this weird animal room.

And, this whole no make-up thing is hard. I'm struggling with it. I know that we all have inner beauty, but I look in the mirror and see "Plain Jane." I've noticed myself hiding behind my glasses lately.I've realized that I critique myself a lot. Yesterday I was expressing to my roommates how I look albino without makeup and that I have man brows.

Hello? Where is my self confidence.

Therefore; I've decided this challenge is for my well being. I AM BEAUTIFUL. I will believe that statement by the end of this month. I was created this way. I was hand crafted. It's time I start seeing the beauty that I know I was made with.

New look.

Diggin' the new look?
Me too.

Thanks Bri! You are THE BEST.
Check out her blog if you haven't.
You'll love it.

No Make-up November.

Isn't it funny how without make up we feel naked?
It's almost like we're hiding behind a mask.
For the month of November, a couple of my roommates and I are participating in,
"No Make-up November"
It's been a little bit of a struggle for me.
I'm just not use to my natural face.
I feel uncomfortable.
But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?
I don't want to continue to think that make-up is the only thing that can make me beautiful.
I am beautiful without it and I need to gain confidence in myself.
Make-up does not make me beautiful.
But my actions and words do.

So, make-up, I'll see you in December.
Stay classy.

Guest Post: Awkward Girls.

I sure do have a treat for you today!
I fell upon the Awkward Girls blog a couple months ago and let me tell you;
they are the cutest best friend I ever did see!
I fell in love with their style instantly.
I asked both of them to pick their favorite thrifted pieces.
I about died when I saw what they picked!
Enjoy :]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey all you lovely Thrifted Things readers!
We're Lauren and Madison from Awkward Girls.
When Katherine asked us to guest post over here we kind of went a little cray cray with excitement because we were already avid fans of her blog. Seriously guys, how does she do it? She's so cute!

So before we go any further, you might want to know a little bit about us
We're best friends in college who love fashion and everything that goes with it. But since we're poor college students, we're living on a tight budget. Which forces us to get really creative with our shopping habits, which is where thrifting comes in.
We definitely haven't reached Katherine's expertise, but we are thrifting fiends.
There is just something so satisfying about looking through a thrift store for hours and then finding that one unique item that was only meant for you. Know what we mean? Not to mention, it's so much cheaper.

So Katherine asked us to share some of our favorite thrifted beauties.
Lauren's Pick:
Dress: thrifted via decades, cardigan: jcrew, belt: thrifted, necklace: uo, boots: miz mooz
This lace dress is one my all-time favorite finds anywhere. It was found at one of our favorite vintage stores in Salt Lake City. It's a vintage Jessica McClintock for Gunne Sax dress from the 70's.

When we first saw it on the hanger, I kind of just thought it looked more or less like a giant sack of lace. But then I tried it on and it was like the heavens opened. Okay not that dramatic, but it fit perfectly. So now it's mine. Maybe when I first brought it home, I seriously considered keeping for my wedding. Is that so wrong?
I love the vintage, rustic feel of the lace, especially when it's contrasted with leather accents. I feel so Jenny from Forrest Gump when I wear it.
For more detailed picture, go to this post.

Madison's Pick:
This lovely skirt was found in the bowels of the DI, just waiting to be discovered. I like to think it used to belong to a very stylish old lady who trotted around in her stylish colorful skirts.
Truth be told, this skirt was tent-sized when I bought it. However, I just happen to have a sewing-savvy sister who took it in for me and viola! Sassy pleated skirt. I love it because it is basic enough to wear with any style top and always adds a pop of color!

So there it is! Like what you see? Stop by the blog for more thrifted finds!

Thanks again Katherine! You da best, gurrrrrl.

xoxo

Do you all have major girl crushes now?
I sure do...

Love Language.

sweater: mall store, scarf: thrifted, white v-neck: walmart, jeans: ross, shoes: target

In one of my classes my teacher is having us read a book about Love Languages.

My love language is tied with kind acts of service and quality time.
Boyfriend's is quality time and words of admiration.

I'm curious,
what love languages are you guys?

I find them super interesting and I actually think knowing them really strengthens a relationship.
When you know the love language of your significant other, you're able to fulfill their love tank.
Which I think is so so important.

Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

Let me hear um' :)

Fred and Wilma.

Fred: orange mumu: made by me, blue polo, tie, and shoes: Rob's
Wilma: dress: made by me, necklace: made by me(ping pong balls), shoes: charlotte russe, leggings: roomie's

Welp, boyfriend has made his debut.
I had so much fun making our costumes!
We won most creative costumes at my ward party.

Then, we decided to go planking...

Now, all I need to do is get this orange out of my hair.

Hope you guys had a fun halloween :)
I sure did!

xoxo

Stress.

sweater, blouse, belt: thrifted, pants: kohl's, shoes: target, purse: charlotte russe

I've found that this semester has been the most stressful semester evaaaa.
I'm beyond busy.
I wake up early to get to class or work by 8, I don't get home until 6 every night. Then I have homework, my humanitarian service club, a boyfriend, and roommates who I want to spend time with. These last couple of weeks have really gotten to me and I've been so exhausted.
When I get exhausted, I just start crying.
That's how I deal with my stress and when I'm done, then I move forward.

The other night I was having a mini-meltdown and the boyfriend happened to be here.
We were just talking about my schedule and if there was anything that I could take out.
There really wasn't anything that I could give up.
But then he said something that changed everything.

He asked me how often I've been reading my scriptures and giving time to ponder and reflect and rely on my faithI hadn't been doing so.I got so caught up in getting everything done that I forgot what matters most to me; my faith and my relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

So, I re-prioritized my life.
Putting God first and letting everything else fall into place.

I've seen such a difference.
I'm so grateful for loved ones who help us see what we can't.

[I don't mean to shove my beliefs down anyone's throats. I hope I don't come off that way. My religion is a huge part of who I am and I wanted to share an experience that really affected me. xoxo]

Sunday Strolls.

shirt, sweater, skirt, boots: thrifted, tights: mom'd

Sunday walks are my favorite.
They're a time, at least for me, to reflect and ponder.
I love taking a stroll with those I love and being able to be out side in the fresh air and just talk.
This past Sunday, a couple roomies and I took a walk to the park and then sat on a bench for a little while.
I'm grateful for the opportunity I have to spend with them.

They're sunshine on a cloudy day.

Update.

dress: jcrew($10!!), sweater & belt: thrifted, boots: target, scarf: nooo idea

Hi my sweet baby angels!
It's been awhile since I've posted...
Here's a little update on my life for ya.

I'm taking 16 credits, working as a secretary, homegirl got a boyfriend, serving as a council member on a humanitarian service organization, doing homework up the ying yang, and trying to still have a social life is cray cray.

What have you guys been up to?
I've missed you!

Circus tent.

shirt, sweater, shoes: thrifted, pants: h&m little kid section

My shirt looks like a circus tent.
Now I want to join the circus and be a clown.

Perfect.

Bold move.

I stared fall semester at BYU-Idaho today.
I also started my new job!
I'm an office assistance for the College of Business and Communication.
Let me tell you this story.

I'm working and all of the sudden this boy comes up to me.
Here's how it went.

Boy: "Hey, so there's this Chinese orchestra playing sometime next week. Will you go with me?"
Me: "Okay.. sure!"
Boy: "What's your number?"
Me: (tell him number)
Boy: "I'm Spencer by the way, what's your name?
Me: "Katherine"
Spencer: "K, cool. I'll call you."

Boy asked me out before he even knew my name.
Bold move.

Bonus:
He dresses way cute.
He was wearing a button-up and a cardigan.
AND glasses.
I die over boys in glasses.
