Vacay.

shirt, shoes, pants, & bag: thrifted, glasses: forever21

Before school starts, Rob and I have a couple of vacations we're going on. One to Spokane, WA with some friends. And then onto Utah to see my parents for my Mom's birthday! I'm suuuuuper excited. The day after we get back from Utah, school starts. I'm only taking 12 credits, so I'm happy that my schedule won't be as crazy as usual. I'm also extremely thrilled that fall is just around the corner. I've been craving everything pumpkin with chocolate chips.

I'm boring.

blouse, skirt (refashioned HERE), belt: thrifted, shoes: Jessica Simpson, crazy hair: got it from my momma

I really have nothing to say. I've been sitting in front of the computer for 10ish minutes and nothing. I have no cool stories or anything really exciting taking place in my life. I'm kind of boring. But at least I'm a happy, boring person. Right?

Hunger Games. (and giveaway winner announced)

shirt & shoes: target, pants: old navy, purse: ross

I've become obsessed the Hunger Game books. I read the first one in two days. I started the second one last night (thanks to Brandilyn) and I'm almost done with it. I'm going to finish tonight and then find the thrid one tomorrow. Poor husband. I haven't really talked to him today... sorry Bob.

Congrats Suzanne Dunken Englund!! Email me at thriftedthings@gmail.com to claim your prize :)

How to wear a graphic tee.

me: skirt, shoes, belt: thrifted, tee: forever21
Bob: shirt & pants: old navy, shoes: zumies

I paired my tutu wearing hippo t shirt with a feminine skirt and retro shoes. Bob wore his old school jazz bball tee with colored pants. I don't have very many graphic tees. I have a hard time styling them. But I adore this shirt! I actually have it in grey as well.... But to defend myself, that one has long sleeves... On the flip side, Rob loves graphic shirts. I swear half of his wardrobe includes shirts with wolves on them. I love him for it though. Rob has such a fun style and I love that he wears what he wants. Also, he's growing a beard. I love scruff. The end.

Have you entered the giveaway yet? Find it HERE. You don't want to miss out. I'm keeping it open until Monday. Because I love you all that much.

Finding Isaac Potter's Style.

New Outfit: shirt: jcpenny, pants: ross

Meet Isaac Potter. Himself and his wife are our best friends. Isaac needed a little help in the clothing department. Isaac, like any man I feel like, has a hard time buying clothes that he thinks he can "pull off" or clothing that is not expensive. He's the type of guy who rarely buys anything that's not from WalMart... We had so much fun picking out clothes for him and helping him discover his own sense of style.

Shiny Shoe Tutorial.

Step one: Buy shoes from a thrift store. These were $6. My hubs stole my shoe laces for his church shoes... Weird? Right.

Step two: I bought this Martha Stewart Glitter paint from a craft store. It was around $2 (I think). And then you just need the paint brush. I didn't use the glue. I thought I was going to. Annnd then I was too lazy to take a picture without the glue... you get the point though.

Step three: PAINT THOSE SUCKAS! It's gonna take a couple coats. Just keep applying it. I wanted mine extra shinny.

Final step: Add some ribbon and you are done my friend! Now go have happy feet. Total cost: 9ish dollas. Pretty good, right?

Shiny goodness.

skirt, shirt, & shoes(+dyi): thrifted

I wore this to walk to Walgreens and to pick up a move from redbox. Then I came home and stripped back down to my underwear... to be completely honest I just wanted to show off my shoes. I was dressed in real clothes for a total of 10 minutes max (tmi?).

Wanna make your own shiny shoes? Check back tomorrow for the tutorial.

P.S. Have you entered the GIVEAWAY? GO GO GO! It's a great one.

Feelin' Fancy.

I was featured HERE on Friday on a Fancy Day! Go get your fancy on and then check out Courtney. She is a cutie.

Outfits I never posted.

For one reason or another, I never posted these outfits. Sometimes I felt like they weren't "blog worthy" or I looked awkward. But I'd thought I'd post them for kicks and gigs. Here ya go!

Happy Birthday to My Little Blog Baby.

dress & belt: thrifted, undershirt: rue21

This little blog of mine just turned two. It's crazy how time flies. It's amazing looking back and seeing what has changed in my life over these two little years on this blog. I'm grateful for the opportunities and people that I have met through this experience. I feel really blessed and loved. I love blogging and documenting what I wear and what I'm doing in life. I started this blog to show others and even myself that style CAN be obtained cheaply. I'll admit, I'm a cheapskate. But I've found so many ways to recreate and to use my sources. Thank you to all of you who have stuck around here. I know that I'm not the most consistent blogger and I appreciate all of the love and support from those who read Thrifted Things. It's been such an adventure and thanks for riding along with me. Thank you, kind readers of blogs.

Front Crown Braid Tutorial.

Welp. Here it is. A tutorial. I'm super awkward and I'm sorry if it doesn't even help any of you... At least I tired, right? Annnnnd sorry again how awkward I am....

Maintenance.

skirt, belt, bag: thrifted, tee: walmart,  shoes: flee market

Rob and I came home from lunch with a friend on Saturday, took a nap, and then decided to go on a little temple date. So we got all dressed up and off we went up the road to the lovely Rexburg Temple on the hill. We go to the parking lot and it was EMPTY. Which is super odd and uncommon. Rob dropped me off at the curbed and I walked to the beautiful doors and posted was a disappointment that read: "closed for maintenance." Poo! I was so excited to go! Whelp, August 14th, when you re-open little temple, I'll be there.

Grandma Butt.

shirt, shorts, belt, & sandals: thrifted

I hate shorts. I feel awkward and frumpy in them. But it's hot out and well, I don't want to wear a skirt everyday either. White girl problems... The only way I like my shorts are up by my hips and grandma butt in the back. Grandma butt is totes happening.

Friends.

shorts, shoes, collar: thrifted, tee: target

I'm not a girl with a ton of friends. I've always stuck to having a few close friends. But I have always tried to be nice to everyone I meet. People mean a lot to me--I really cherish the people in my life. For me, friends are hard to come by. I have a hard time opening up entirely and letting people in. The other night, Rob and I met up with two of our married couple friends and shared so many laughs, told stories, and talked about life. I can truly call these people my true friends. I have so much respect, love, and genuine interest in these people. It's hard to come by those  who you know you can count on and trust. There people are my people and I feel so blessed.

Finding happiness.

dress, sandals, belt: thrifted

While I was in Washington, I really discovered what matters to me. There are so many things in this life that get in the way and ruin our perceptions of happiness; I'm definitely guilty of this. I worry about my hair, how I look, what I'm wearing, what others think of me, how little money I have to my name, the lack of friends I have... But when it comes down to it all, these things are minimal to my happiness. There's a quote on campus that I think of often. It states: "On one's pursuit for happiness, one should just stop and be happy." We're all on this hunt for what happiness is. But have we ever thought to just stop, be still, and think of all the beautiful things in this life? I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for the beauty in my life; the gospel, my loving and dear husband, my supportive family, my education, the talents that God has given me. I get exhausted with trying to be the person I feel like people want to be. I try so hard to please others. I've done this my whole life. I put others wants and desires before my own happiness. Which, really, may not be a bad thing, but I deserve happiness as well.

I've decided to get ride of the things that don't matter and replace them with things that make me happy. I worked out this morning for the first time in months, I'll make dinner tonight, and maybe even get some sewing in today. I'll spend time with my love and clean our living room, because it's make me feel all domestic like.

I'm in charge of my happiness and finding what makes me happy starts today.

Home.

shirt & dress: thrifted, shoes: target

Rob and I have been in Washington for the past two weeks. It's been great to see family and friends and even do a little thrifting! Oh how my heart swells for thrift store shopping! I got some goodies that I'm so excited to work into my wardrobe. It's been fun here in Washington, but it's almost time to go home. It's funny that I consider Rexburg my "home" now. I guess that is what happens when you leave the nest. See you Monday little apartment, Rob and I have missed you.

BATMAN.

Rob and I went to the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises. It just so happened to be finals week... did we care? NOPE! We went and didn't get home until 4 in da morning. Totally worth it. I LOVED it. Of course we dressed up. What kind of people would we be if we didn't?

Insta

Well hey! Just thought I'd pop in and leave my Instagram just in case you've been missing me and want to do some creepin' ;) Fol...
